UKiset

What is UKiset?

UKiset is an admission test specifically designed for overseas students, through comprehensive assessments in various fields, the result of UKiset can show whether the applicant is eligible to study in the UK independent education system.

UKiset covers a range of specialties, ranging from English to Mathematics, from logical thinking to problem solving. Upon completion of the UKiset, the official will compare the candidate’s score to the UK students at the same age range. If the candidate performs equal to or above average, he or she will be recognized as “Pass”.

Since students from all over the world have to attend the same UKiset assessment, and the UKiset official has strict regulations regarding the test center and invigilator, its fairness and justice are guaranteed, ensuring qualified students can earn their own spots in their desired UK schools.

How much does UKiset charge?

UKiset charges students £295. 

Not only does the cost include examination fee, but it also covers registration, examination arrangement, invigilation, results announcement and most importantly, sending out the UKiset result to up to 5 schools on your behalf.

If you wish to send your UKiset result to more than 5 schools, each school costs extra £50.

How difficult is UKiset? 

Overall speaking, UKiset composes of 3 major parts, which are:

  1. Reasoning Test
  2. Cambridge English Placement Test
  3. English Essay Writing

The difficulty varies from age to age, for older students, the questions will be harder than primary school candidates. On average, students are expected to get 111 in UKiset in order to enroll into the UK independent school, however, if you are aiming for a more academically selective school such as Grammar Schools, you might need at least 125 score to get chosen.

How to prepare for UKiset?

If you are performing well at school, you actually don’t need much extra effort to prepare for UKiset.

You can try finishing the UKiset past papers, listening to more local UK news and reading more English readings such as books or magazines.

Reasoning Test Samples Questions

  • By looking at a given picture, working out which options fits best in the missing square to complete the sequence,
  • Fill in the missing number to make the equation make sense.

Cambridge English Placement Test

  • Listen to a sound tape in English and fill in the missing words or circle the answer that fits best the question. Similar to the Listening test offered by Hong Kong educators.

English Essay Writing Sample Questions

  • If you were Prime Minister for the day, what would you change and why?
  • If you suddenly won lots of money, what would you do with it?
  • Write about your scariest moment, explaining how you felt.
  • The world is a better place now than it used to be. Do you agree?
  • Why is New Year such an important event to celebrate?
