IB Diploma

Year 12–13 (Hong Kong F.6)
Ages 16+ to 18

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma is an internationally recognized qualification taken by pupils throughout the world. This two-year course is an alternative to A Levels. Pupils study six subjects, (three at higher level and three at standard level), as well as Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and they have to write an extended essay and do some non-academic work, (Creative, Action & Service, known as CAS). The full mark in the IB Diploma is 45 (7 marks for each subject and 3 extra marks for the TOK, the essay and CAS).

The IB Diploma is suitable for pupils interested in a wide variety of subjects or who do not know what they want to study at university. The content in the IB is wider and possibly more challenging than A Level qualifications. Pupils must have a strong grasp of the English language to cope with the curriculum.
