UK Visa Requirements & Guidelines

 According to the regulations of the British Consulate, all Hong Kong student visa applicants must submit their applications via the online application system. After completing the application form, applicants must print and sign the form, print the confirmed online appointment letter, and bring all required documents in person to the visa application centre for processing. Visa applications can be submitted within six months prior to the course start date. Coopers & Coopers suggests applying as early as possible to avoid any visa delays.

Recommended Documents (All documents must be submitted in English)

• Tuberculosis (TB) Test Certificate: Mandatory for courses lasting 6 months or longer.

* According to the latest 2025 guidelines, students must book and complete their TB test at a designated medical clinic in Hong Kong (refer to the “UK Visa Q&A” for details). The test certificate is valid for 6 months.

• Printed Application Documents: Printed completed online application form, Document Checklist, and online appointment confirmation letter.
• Passport: Valid for at least 6 months.
• CAS Statement: Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies.
• Student’s Hong Kong ID Card.
• Student’s Passport
• Academic Qualifications: As listed on the CAS statement (e.g., academic transcripts, certificates, IELTS results).
• Proof of Funds:Must cover 1 year of tuition fees plus 9 months of living expenses. Held under the student’s personal bank account, or a personal/joint account of the parents.

* According to the latest 2025 guidelines, the living expense requirements are £1,483 per month for studying inner London and £1,136 per month for outside London.

* Funds must be held in the account for at least 28 consecutive days, with the final transaction date being no earlier than 31 days prior to the date of application.

Fees

Applies to all passport holders (including BNO and HKSAR passports):

1. Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS): All applicants applying for a Student Visa must pay the IHS. The annual fee is £776. Depending on the start and end dates of the course, if the duration exceeds 1 year but is less than 1.5 years, it will be calculated as 1.5 years (half-year fee is £388).
2. Visa Fee: £524

* All fees must be paid online via credit card (VISA / Master card).

3. eVisa – Upon visa approval, students must follow the instructions in the decision letter to generate a Share Code (Immigration Status Share Code).

Processing Time

• Standard Processing: Approximately 15 to 20 working days (subject to change depending on individual circumstances).
• Priority Visa Service: Optional service available for approximately £500, taking about 5 to 7 working days.
• Super Priority Visa Service: Optional service available for approximately £1,000, taking about 1 to 2 working days.
• The Consulate will notify applicants via email regarding the collection or approval status.
