International University Foundations
Age 17+ (upon completion of F.5 or F.6)
International Foundation Courses are designed to enable pupils to progress to a wide range of undergraduate degrees at most UK universities. These courses are offered at government colleges, tutorial colleges or international study centres on university campuses. They provide a solid grounding for degree study and teach the study skills and English that pupils will need as undergraduates. Pupils take modules related to the subject they wish to study at university, (e.g. Business, Law, Social Sciences, Science, Media, Engineering, etc.), together with English, Mathematics, ICT and Study Skills.
University Foundation courses are suitable for those who wish to join a higher ranked UK university or those who cannot gain the IELTS 6.5 for direct entry to most UK universities.
University International Year One
Age 19+ (upon completion of a diploma qualification or HKDSE)
Some university international study centres and tutorial colleges offer places on a Year One course for students with a reasonable HKDSE result, but who have not obtained IELTS 6.5. On completion of the Year One course, students can join Year Two of an undergraduate degree.
